Bridges 03:35
Cross you over river and stream Arm in arm and finally free None of this comes naturally Generation’s guarantee And a leap into the void Millions it took to get us here Never on instinct, always in fear  Riches abounding, and they were the ones To finally find something new under the sun And a leap into the void My life a rich man’s toy I may not come from Caesarea’s shining shores But what’s left to do when you have all you want and more? People make cities and money to boot But what’s the good if I’m just like you? The thrill of a leap into the void

Smile at my folks and crack a few jokes Killing spree at half past three, oh, it’s no hoax Wedded bliss until we pass on, croak From a life of smokes or just a stroke Oh, baby I really miss the old me Oh, darling Sturdy as the floes in arctic seas Universalism’s just a game Looking for a perfect offering, no shame Alternative’s just looking for a name Infidel to some, to others, I’m tame Oh, baby I really miss the old me Oh, darling Sturdy as the floes in arctic seas

Yolanda 03:08
Druid man of Celtic land Are you learned enough To clearly see your ancestry Is bigger than the bluff? Yolanda, dear, you’re made so fearfully  Teaching the five of us Your native tongue, oh, but we’ll get it wrong And creole it through the fuss Oh, Iberia, Feel it in your bones Eurasia, Don’t think that you’re alone Every man from their native land Has come from somewhere else Few know but we can grow As truth reveals itself Every man from their native land Has come from somewhere else Few know but we can grow As truth reveals itself And that’s that

Try to speak clearly, now, We’re both in second tongues All the way from foreign lands   Western, Eastern sons Jealous of Solomon, I’ll cry, but it’s okay Eating my kofta now, I’ll sign my soul away I’ll take the one with everything I’ll take the one with all Listener, take warning: This will not save the world Wading in exotic waters, Mystery comes unfurled I want you to have this, baby I want it for you and only you Embrace me Embrace each other, too I’ll take the one with everything I’ll take the one with all Prophets have their differences No Philistine could be enthralled

At noon, she came in Asked me to read her cards Sang her a song, got it all wrong Plucking away like a bard At three, no, four She came through the door Getting by, waiting to die Was running her into the floor Nobody’d trust a man like me ‘Cause nobody really wants set free Nobody’d trust a man like me ‘Cause nobody really wants set free Said Sartre, in the dark, We would never part In the mess, we’d regress Freedom dampens the heart At six, in a fix I looked deep in her eyes It’s every day, I wanna say Enough with the disguise Nobody’d trust a man like me ‘Cause nobody really wants set free Nobody’d trust a man like me ‘Cause nobody really wants set free Nobody’d trust a man like me ‘Cause nobody really wants set free Nobody’d trust a man like me ‘Cause nobody really wants set free

I’ve fallen in love with the sacred texts, Prophecies and communists Governments put to the test And everything between I’ve read what’s wrong and read what’s right Changed my allegiance night after night Prayed to the heavens to put me in flight But none of it brought me your light I’ve seen the sign, the Holy Tree Know angels watching over me But how could I just let that be When I could trade the “I” for “she”? I’ve been depressed, I’ve been so blue Moral reckoning’s coming through Siberia from Kathmandu Came for peace, stayed for the view I’ve dared to adventure, I’ve dared to be bold Moved ‘cross the sea; what did I behold? None of it richer than silver or gold But all along with you

I know you’ve been making bets On what this thing could be With this painted wall I’ll give You my guarantee I’ve been writing poetry And drawing flightless birds Artist’s life, bohemian nights, Economic words Photograph you in the bedroom Only skin and light  Patience in and patience out We’ll take it night by night When I reach another guilt, an illusory pain You’re the one who draws me back Back to my own brain Praise the Romans, hate the Greeks, You tell me just shut up Turn my attention to the Son of Man, You say now that’s enough Better to stop searching And just let this thing grow Everyday I’m learning that That’s the way to go Twenty years ahead now I lie in bed the same And twenty more years after that All and none have changed I’ve been writing poetry And drawing flightless birds Artist’s life, bohemian nights, Economic words Unchanging never changes, Unconditional, Unashamed or unrefined, I’m understanding all

New Veneer 04:23
What do you say to us? Exiting this bus Paid the man so much Went through all the fuss For a new life What do we say to you Calling us out of the blue? Be together soon Your 9 o’clock, our 2 It’s a new life Having us all together Could only make things worse The show goes on even if we’re Ambling our traverse In the alleyway We see your red right hand A fitting fire to be Baptized in new land Be here for a year You’ll go to school, and I’ll cheer Learn to cover fear With a new veneer It’s a new life A new life It’s a new life Having us all together Could only make things worse The show goes on even if we’re Ambling our traverse In the alleyway We see your red right hand A fitting fire to be Baptized in new land

Simone Weil 03:17
Brute force Nothing I’ve never seen before Sovereignty Guess we’ll have to see what’s in store Providence Not a disturbing influence Anomaly Or just indolence I’m not asking for much Just a little time to leave you With all the possibilities we could do I won’t be your crutch Life in hesitation Refuse to use imagination “I am the truth” Well, it’s no lie Synthesis Would damn us all to die Excepting  We could give each little thing Attention Pure generosity, now let’s sing I’m not asking for much Just a little time to leave you With all the possibilities we could do I won’t be your crutch Life in hesitation Refuse to use imagination

Here is the bird that never flew Here is the tree that never grew Here is the bell that never rang Here is the fish that never swam I want to be good Magic going unobserved, you only wanted me to learn I want to To control myself in turn, want to prevent that holy burn Here is the man who couldn’t stand Here is the woman with a broken hand Here is the son who couldn’t walk Here is the daughter who couldn’t talk I want to be good Magic going unobserved, you only wanted me to learn I want to To control myself in turn, want to prevent that holy burn Here is the sheep who ran away Here is the dog who found its way Here is the gull who lost its flight Here is the lark lost in the night I want to be good Magic going unobserved, you only wanted me to learn I want to To control myself in turn, want to prevent that holy burn

about

Recorded Spring 2021

in Glasgow, Scotland

What was first written in the winter of 2021 as a hushed, sullen folk record quickly metamorphosed into a collection of danceable synth tunes. The punchy, confrontational electronics of acts like Suicide and Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark meet the singer's lyrics, which combine cryptic personal impressions and literary allusions in the vein of Leonard Cohen, to form a concoction of catchy poetry about work, travel, love, and spirituality.
